At the core of Blue Collar Builders is Michael Johnson, a lifelong tradesman and construction professional with over 25 years of hands-on experience in carpentry and building. Before founding Blue Collar Builders in 2014, Michael spent 15 years as a union carpenter and foreman, working on complex commercial projects throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. That deep field experience is the foundation on which Blue Collar Builders was built.
Michael’s transition from union foreman to business owner was driven by one simple goal: deliver construction work done the right way, by skilled professionals who take pride in their craft. Today, Blue Collar Builders is a trusted name in both residential and commercial construction, known for precision, reliability, and integrity.
Michael is not a desk-only owner. His career began on job sites, learning framing, drywall, millwork, and finish carpentry the right way. That hands-on background allows him to oversee projects with a critical eye, anticipate challenges early, and hold his team to the highest standards of workmanship.
Michael understands what it takes to run large, demanding projects efficiently and safely. He leads a skilled team of union professionals capable of handling commercial projects ranging from $90K to $2.5 million, while still delivering the same attention to detail on high-end residential builds & renovations.
